Item details

This listing is for the PDF downloadable pattern and not for the finished sweater. It is written for crochet in easy to understand terms.

I needed dog sweaters to take to the Lake Area Fiber Arts Festival in October of 2014, and I only had a few made up. I knit very slowly, so I would have to make crocheted sweaters. I wanted them to be easy-on, easy-off designs because little dogs are squirmy and don’t like to hold still for very long. The design I came up with was ideal, and I made six dog sweaters in my spare time while working a full time job, all over the span of two weeks. The Festival was great fun, I sold some dog sweaters, and now that it’s over, I’ll publish the pattern so you can have your own Fast and Easy dog sweaters for your little dog.

I made the sweaters to put on dog mannequins, but you will find that they are really easy to put on and take off your little dog.

This pattern is fun for using up scraps of colorful yarn that you might have left over from other projects. The collars are made with worsted weight 4 ply acrylic yarn. The bodies are made with a variety of bulky weight soft fluffy yarns like Chenille, Homespun, and others that make warm sweaters. The fluffy yarns work best.

The pattern has lots of pictures and is written in tutorial style in easy to understand crochet terms. The pink sweater is really warm, and was made with two yarns held together - a regular 4 ply acrylic worsted weight held together with a pink "eyelash" yarn to make it fluffy.
