PDF SEWING PATTERN!
If you are looking for a great beginning sewing pattern, this may be exactly what you need. It's a simple back pack with casings, interior pocket, and lots of room for error.
When I teach a beginning sewing class, this is the last of the three projects (after a pillow case and a tote bag). Because you are using a 1/2" seam, you've got some wiggle room and will be OK if things don't quite line up! Plus, you'll be putting in two grommets/eyelets, which is a great thing to learn.
If you don't want the back pack, you can make a drawstring bag by leaving the tabs off and by using only 2 yards of cord. In either case, check out the colorful clothesline that the big box hardware stores sell - perfect for this back pack!
Can be easily modified like the black and yellow "Cheer" backpack shown (please note that this pattern is the basic design - there are no directions for adding the contrasting band).
Sizing / Finished Measurements: 15" x 12"

On occasion, my cat(s) hang out with me. Although I keep things clean/neat, a stray cat hair might show up on your pillow cover and/or bag tag. But other than that, there are no funky smells or weird things to worry about.
