Ribbons and flowers and some earrings ship first class while all necklaces (and some earrings) ship Priority Mail (with tracking and insurance). I will combine shipping on all orders and will refund you any excess shipping charges over $1.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: I have had a couple of people tell me that they had to pay import taxes on their items. Please note that I will not cover or refund you for these import charges if they are assessed on your item. Please check with your country's postal service to determine if any additional charges will be levied on your purchase. In addition, please do not ask me to falsify the value of the items I am shipping on customs forms. Customs forms will be listed with the full value only.

Returns & exchanges

I want you to be thrilled with your purchase from Dames a la Mode, so please contact me immediately if there is any problem with your order and I will do my best to correct it.

A few standard policies:
Most of jewelry is shipped Priority Mail with tracking and insurance. If your item is lost or damaged by the postal service, I will file an insurance claim on your behalf. Once the claim has been settled (generally this takes 25-30 days), I will issue you a refund for your order or I will replace the item for you (if I have the supplies to make another). Please note that if the item is listed as delivered by the Postal Service, I am unable to file a claim and cannot refund your order. Please ensure that packages can be stored safely and securely at your location. Priority Mail does not require a signature, but please contact me if you would like that option and I can set up a custom listing for you.

I am happy to make adjustments to your items if you order the wrong size (for example a necklace that is too short or too long), however I will ask for you to cover shipping both ways. I will return ship Priority Mail, which is generally $5.50.
I make every effort to pack my items securely, but occasionally an item may arrive damaged. If this happens, I will happily repair your item and will pay shipping charges both ways. If you wish to return the item, I will pay for return shipping and refund you when the item is received. Refunds are issued only with the return of the item.


If you are unsatisfied with your purchase for any reason, then you may return it within 5 days for a refund of the purchase price, minus a 10% restocking fee (25% for custom orders). I ship all of my items with tracking, so I will use the delivery date to determine the timeline. I recommend that you re-ship with tracking and insurance. If I do not receive your package, I will be unable to issue a refund. From 5-15 days, you have the option to exchange your item for another or receive store credit for future purchases, however I will request that you pay for shipping for the new item. Please note that I do not refund or cover shipping either way for a return or exchange, unless of course the error is mine. After 15 days I do not accept returns or exchanges.

For custom orders, I ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time that the order is placed. Once I have completed your jewelry, hat or bonnet, I will post pictures for you to see and will ask for the remaining balance. Once your item is completed, you have 30 days to purchase the custom listing. After 30 days, your item will be offered up for general sale and your deposit will be forefeited.
