These hooks by all the major brands - Schacht, Ashford, Harrisville, Louet and Glimakra, are used in weaving to thread heddles and reeds. I carry most every imaginable brand of hook.
First Picture from top to bottom:
Top is the White Plastic Reed Hook from Glimakra, measuring approximately 3 3/8" end to end and 3/4" wide at widest point. Schacht Brass Reed hook Ashford Double Ended Nylon hook Harrisville Double Ended Brass hook Ashford Sley hook (may have blue or green handle) Schacht Cricket Heddle hook Schacht Short Heddle hook (wooden handle) Schacht Long Heddle hook (wooden handle) Harrisville Long Threading hook (black, squared off plastic handle) Kromski Double Ended hook
SCHACHT hooks are shown in the second photo. From top to bottom: BRASS REED HOOK- designed with a curve that fits comfortably in your hand. Both ends have the same hook shape, with a deep opening that works for fine to heavy yarns. It has a hole in one end so you can hang it nearby or tie it to your wrist while you are sleying. Measures approximately 4 1/4" long X 7/8" wide. SHORT HEDDLE HOOK - Wooden easy-grip handle, hook measuring 4 1/2" (8" with handle) LONG HEDDLE HOOK - This hook has a very fine slit which goes deep into the hook end to securely grab tight or fine thread and yarn so that it cannot slip out. Wooden easy-grip handle, hook measuring 7 1/2" (11" with handle). CRICKET HEDDLE HOOK - measures approximately 6 1/2". This Heddle Hook from Schacht comes with the Cricket loom. This works great for getting thru small heddles on all rigid heddle looms.
ASHFORD hooks are shown in the third photo. Top is the Double-Ended Heddle/Reed Hook, made of Nylon (stiff like plastic), measuring approximately 7 1/4" end to end. Bottom is the Ashford Sley (Heddle) Hook for threading your heddles & reeds. Hook is 5" long. With handle, overall 8 1/4". Handles can be of different colors from time to time.
Bottom of first picture is Kromski's Double Ended Heddle Hook. This hook measures 8" long with an elongated "loop-hook" at one end and a regular heddle hook at the other. It features the beefiest handle yet at 3 1/4" long X 1 1/5" wide for an easy grip - lacquered and a really good price for a heddle hook of this quality.
Fourth Picture is of the Harrisville hooks. The one on the top is the Double Ended Brass Sley Hook (6.5") (this is just like the Glimakra hook) with a convenient hole so you can tie it to your wrist or hang it nearby while you're weaving. The bottom one with the square, easy -grip black handle is their Threading Hook, measuring 9 1/2"
Fifth Picture is of the Glimakra (also pictured and detailed in the 6th pic) and Louet Hooks. Top is the wooden handled Glimakra hook with a very fine 4" wire threading hook to get into tight, higher dent reeds for the thinner yarn and thread. Their handle has a graduated and wavy surface for fitting your fingers. Bottom is the long and beefy Louet Heddle Hook. It measures a tad over 11" long and has an easy grip Hardwood handle with a nearly 3/4" fat diameter. The end of the Louet threading hook is shown close up in the last picture. It has a long/deep narrow groove in the hook to snag and secure fine yarn and thread, keeping it from slipping out and away.
