Master the fundamental peyote stitch upon which this improvisational technique is built. Then learn strategies to make it your own. Full-color illustrations and photographs demystify the art of freeform bead weaving, breaking the basic stitch into its simplest forms. See how I and almost two dozen other artists use these simple forms to build more complex beaded structures. Learn how the elements of design can act as a road-map to guide your stitching rather than relying on preset patterns or stitch counts. Develop confidence in making your own creative choices.
Expand your work into the third dimension with sculptural, freeform peyote ruffles. See how stitch choices combine to shape the finished ruffles. Look at ways to expand a design theme into a series of related pieces with photo galleries of additional work.
Then develop larger jewelry designs, from bracelets and cuffs to necklaces, collars and other larger personal adornments. These larger jewelry designs can be intimidating, and pose unique challenges which differ from those encountered constructing their smaller cousins. Take a behind-the-scenes look at how the I and three of my featured artists tackled these issues in our original designs.
The last volume offers an introduction to the range of possibilities using freeform peyote as a sculptural medium. I divided the volume into two categories: covered forms and hollow sculptures. With covered forms, we drape our beading over armatures and/or premade forms. Examples include beaded bottles, and a beaded rock by featured artist, Nancy Dale. From there, take a look at hollow forms in the shape of freeform beaded fish. Featured artist Georgia McMillan shares design ideas from her whimsical collection. I follow this up with an in-depth photo essay providing a closer look at the design and construction process of my Parrot(ish) Fish.

This listing includes the download codes for all four volumes in both ePub and Kindle (.mobi) versions. Because of number and size of the images, these files are quite large and can be slow to download, so don't be surprised if it takes a little while. Also, Etsy only lets me attach 30MB worth of files. To work around this, you will see two files once you've made your purchase. The first, appropriately titled, ReadMeFirst, includes the download codes for all eight files (the four volumes, each in both .epub and .mobi (Kindle) formats), along with instructions for loading the files into free ebook-reader applications. The second file is the .epub version of Volume 1: Demystifying the Technique.
.ePub files are compatible with a number of popular book readers including iBook, Adobe Digital Editions and Overdrive. .Mobi is the file format used by the free Kindle Reader software.
