This tiny medal is so sweet I had to get it. I am not a Catholic, but I understand and believe basically the same fundamental things. I had to do research on the symbols stamped on this medallion, but it wasn't hard to find its meaning. If you are looking at this item now, you probably already know. But if you don't, here are a couple good articles on this medal's symbolism and importance of the Immaculate Conception medallion. http://www.marian.org/news/The-Meaning-of-the-Miraculous-Medal-2942 and http://symboldictionary.net/?p=2240
Traditionally, I would say this little amulet was for a baby girl. (And I still like to correlate girls with pink. So that's what I'm sticking with.) It is small and measures 1" top to bottom and 5/8" wide at the top bar. The front has pink Guilloche-style enamel exhibiting the words "BABY" and depicting the Mother Mary standing on the globe. The back is marked "STERLING CHAPEL" on the top bar and "CHAPEL STER" on the pendant. It is also embossed with Jesus' cross over an "M" (Mary), two heart below, and surrounded with the twelve stars of Israel.
Of note: This amazing baby amulet does not have it's clasp. I believe I have one that I could attach if you like. Please ask. Otherwise it is perfect for your crafting project. Condition is commensurate with age. There are no chips, cracks, or scratching in the enamel.
