Iris is the seventh in a series of geometric floral designs, inspired by flowers from my mother's garden. This one has been a long time coming, I designed it way back in 2011 when I was working on the others in the floral series, but I'm just finally getting around to releasing it.
The model for this design was stitched with Dinky Dyes Silk floss on 40 ct linen from Lakeside Linens and a DMC conversion is included. Remember, my colour choices are just suggestions – be creative!
Floss used in the model is from http://dinkydyes.com/ and can be purchased at your favourite needlework shop.
Fabric used in the model is from http://lakesidelinens.com and can also be purchased at your favourite needlework shop.
Additional Northern Expressions Needlework Designs can be found at Dinky Dyes, Hoffman Distributing or through your favourite needlework shop.
The model for Iris was beautifully stitched by Esther Hung.
Materials Stitch Count: 237w x 237h Design Size: 11 ¾ x 11 ¾ inches on 40 count fabric 13 ½ x 13 ½ inches on 36 count fabric 14 ¾ x 14 ¾ inches on 32 count fabric 17 x 17 inches on 28 count fabric
Fabric used for the model is 40 ct Lakeside Linen Magnolia, however you can use any count or fabric of your choosing. Because the chart is entirely composed of cross stitch, it is suitable for any count or type of fabric.
Dinky Dyes 157 Claremont x3 or DMC 333 x3 Dinky Dyes 162 Pindi x2 or DMC 470 x2
This is not an exact conversion, the Dinky Dyes is of course overdyed and the DMC is solid. Claremont is bolder and brighter than the DMC, but there isn't anything closer.
Floss estimates are for 36 to 40 count fabric using one strand of thread for stitching. If you are stitching on a lower count fabric, you will need to increase these amounts!
