Item details

Ever used up all the patches in a bicycle inner tube repair kit and still had cement, abrasive, and other pieces of the patch kit left? If so, McCyclist understands the frustration. He offers this sample of 10 hand-made patches along with the most detailed bicycle inner tube patching instructions you're likely to see ever in standard American English. McCyclist cut the 10 patches from inner tubes he had given up on—either patched too hissing many times over or blown out a valve.

But still more valuable than hand-crafted patches of reclaimed rubber is knowledge: instructions for how you'll create your own replacement patches using discarded inner tubes when this sample runs out. With these instructions, you might find you never need to purchase a patch kit again, restocking rubber cement cheaply from an auto parts store. An emptied large plastic pharmaceutical vial or candy box can hold your home-assembled tube patch kit.

Both sets of instructions are copyrighted with restrictions on reproducing them; however, that doesn't bar you from teaching others what you learned or passing on your copies of the instructions once you've learned everything you need from them.

Included with this purchase:

* 10 hand-crafted patches made of worn out bicycle tube mounted on a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) ticket McCyclist found abandoned on the sidewalk.
* Coroplast (corrugated plastic) protective sheath made from reclaimed advertising sign
* One copy of McCyclist's patching application instructions printed on reclaimed paper
* One copy of McCyclist's creating your own patches from reused bicycle inner tube instructions printed on reclaimed paper

A helpful tool not included with this purchase available for separate purchase at McCyclistsWorks is our hand-made applicator roller:

PLEASE NOTE:
This item is NOT a complete bicycle inner tube patch kit. It's intended for use with what's left of an ordinary patch kit if its patches are the first thing to run out. This item's patches can be used with rubber cement purchased at a bicycle shop or auto parts store.

McCyclist's Works owner has been successfully patching his own inner tubes for over five years with similar patches he's made himself; however, they have not been tested on inner tubes made of alternative material—such as latex—to common butyl inner tubes, and we have no information as to whether they will work on inner tubes of other material or for any other rubber patching application.
