Item details

Erste is a seamless cowl that pairs columns of cables with a wide lace pattern that looks like cables—but isn’t. This cowl is knit in the round with sportweight yarn on a circular needle (no grafting or seaming required).

A solid-color yarn with good stitch definition but soft fiber content is recommended for a luxurious and warm cowl. DK weight yarn can be substituted, but swatch to determine best needle size— aim for a gauge of 5.5 sts to the inch in stockinette stitch.

Finished (blocked) measurements: 32.5 inches/83 cm circumference by 8 inches/20 cm deep

--300 yds/275 m sportweight yarn. Sample shown was knit with one skein of Plucky Knitter Traveler Sport [65% superwash merino wool, 20% mulberry silk, 15% yak; 325yds/297m per 100g skein]; color: Hi-Ho Silver.
--US #5/3.75mm 16-inch or 24-inch circular needle OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE
--Stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle

Gauge: 22 sts/34 rnds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking

One repeat of the Cable and Lace Pattern measures 6.5 inches/16.5 cm wide, after blocking.

To save time, check gauge.
