Item details

The name of this shawlette is inspired by the turret-shaped edging and by an entertaining novel I recently read, called "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith.

The edging is knit at the same time as the body. Skill level is advanced beginner--many rows are simple garter stitch, i.e., just using the knit stitch, but you will also have opportunities to yarn over and k2tog. Directions for an optional cable cast-on are given in the pattern.

For one of the samples shown, I used Hearthside Fibers BaaBoo, color: Galway Bay. Each skein has 438 yards, and I had a little left over.

You can easily make the shawl larger by using more yarn and doing more repeats, and/or using heavier weight yarn.

Materials needed:
438 yards of fingering weight yarn
#4 needles or size to get gauge
Stitch marker

Finished Size: 13 inches at widest point, 50 inches long.
