Weaving a garment or rug using a peg loom is an easy, fun and fulfilling project. Just about anyone can experience the pride of weaving many different designs such as a nice rug, table runner, place mat, pillow form, scarf or any rectangular project you decide using this loom. Children as young as 8 years old have been successful. Yarn is typically used to weave but many options are available. An example is bailing twine.
The maximum width of your project is determined by the number of pegs you use. With this loom your project can be up to 20 inches wide. The length of the item is determined by the length of your warp cord, it can be any length you desire. See our other listings for looms that are 14 inches, 30 inches and 36 inches.
Each loom has two sizes of pegs. The larger (3/8 inch) pegs are great for rugs and bulkier projects. The smaller pegs (1/4 inch) work well with scarves and items with a closer weave. Each peg is tapered at the end to ensure easy no snag weaving.
The base is 24 by 4 inches to provide a stable platform. It can be easily clamped to a table for increased stability. The solid oak wood top piece is routed on the edges and hand rubbed with tung oil to preserve the wood and keep it from cracking. Holes are drilled ¾ inches apart to accommodate the 3/8 inch pegs and ½ inch apart for the ¼ inch pegs. Each loom comes with enough pegs to fill each hole plus two spares. A threader is included which helps thread the warp string into the peg holes. Instructions for using a peg loom are included. At almost any age you can experience the enjoyment and satisfaction from weaving with these beautiful looms.
