IDEAS: These plants can be added anywhere for a touch of beauty. Some of things people like to do with them are stick them in shells, attach them to sticks, place in vases and terrariums, etc.

LISTING INCLUDES: (3) ionantha tillandsia

SIZE: range from 2" - 3" (really dependent on leaves) See hand and ruler pictures

(This is a set listing with plants that may vary in look, but are for the same tillandsia species. Each one is different! I will pick out the best of the plants I have for you. Their sizes and shapes vary, but this is normal. If you are at all unhappy, I will replace your plants or give you a refund if you’d like.)

Tillandsia is a genus with hundreds of species of plants in the family bromeliad family. They are native to the forests, mountains and deserts of Central and South America, the southern United States and the West Indies. Tillandsia are also known as air plants, because they don’t require being planted to live. Nutrients are absorbed through their leaves and they use their roots to anchor themselves onto things. One to two months after a plant’s bloom has finished, new plants start forming around the base. They are called the "pups" of the "mother" plant. Once those pups are about one third the size of the mother, you can break them off and grow them separately..
Tillandsia air plants are NOT toxic to animals, and they also travel and ship well.

Bright, indirect light, fluorescent office lighting, or frost-protected shaded patio. Generally, no direct sun is recommended. Some varieties can handle some early morning sun – this will allow them to "blush" (change colors) before they bloom!

Your plants should be watered once per week, and 2-3 times is recommended for optimal care. A longer, 2-hour soak is recommended every 2-3 weeks. If you are in a drier, hotter climate, more frequent watering or misting will be needed. You'll begin to notice that after watering, your plant’s leaves will feel stiffer and full of water and they’ll be softer and lighter in color when they're in need of water. Wrinkled or rolled leaves can be a sign of dehydration.
