I'm not going to say these cookies are easy to make, but when you make them right, they are absolutely stunning! I had custom cookie cutters made of my two children for my hubby on Father's Day. The look of delight and surprise on his face when he opened the box of cookies was priceless. Everybody should have their own face on a cookie! (Though it helps when your kids are as cute as mine.)
Some baking tips:
- I used a big batch sugar cookie recipe, which I am very familiar with because I bake them (non-professionally) for many occasions. The dough worked best when it was soft and well-floured. (Also I recommend that you flour the cutter on each cut.)
- Through trial and error I found it best to lightly and repeatedly push the cutter into the dough until it is deep enough.
- Chill the dough thoroughly before baking. Enjoy!
