Item details

Soft and supple, this colorful handspun skein moves seamlessly from light yellow to orange tones, fuschia and purples, and all with just a bit of sparkle. Hand-dyed merino wool and angelina sparkle from Loop were spun with a short forward draw to enhance durability, and then plied with a 100% cashmere 2/45 millspun strand from Loro Piana in a muted orange that beautifully complements the colors and adds drape and softness to the yarn. This self-striping fingering weight yarn will knit into a gorgeous shawl, crochet into fabulous lace, and would make beautiful woven fabric.

Weighing 6.625 oz and measuring 955 yards, this 2-ply fingering to laceweight yarn will range between 7.5-9.5 stitches/inch on #1-4 needles, or for crochet, this would work well on a range of small hooks around A-C. There is enough yardage here to make a spectacular shawl or small project all on its own, and the color will stripe from one into the other beautifully.

This skein was spun and plied with sacred intention on my Lendrum wheel in a tobacco-free home, and it has been set and rinsed with a bit of organic lavender conditioner to keep the wool supple. It has been stored near cedar. Handwash gently to avoid felting and preserve stitch definition.

I ship USPS Priority Mail, and I will also wind your yarn into a center pull ball for you if you like. I will also happily work with you to create a custom skein.

Thanks again for looking!

FAQs

I would be delighted to work with you to create a custom fiber blend, yarn or consult with you on the fiber arts project of your dreams, just ask!

All yarns have been properly set by immersion in hot water, and should be pre-shrunk and ready to go! Please look at the fiber content to determine if your yarn might felt when agitated, but a great default assumption is that handspun should always be hand washed with care.

Totally possible, but I would need some advance notice! Convo me with any such questions or concerns!
