Higbees Department Store; Opening in 1860 in Cleveland, Ohio, became the store to shop if you were somebody or wanted to be part of the "in crowd of the 19th. Century. The executives of the company knew success was in the making as on the first day of business, their receipts were $100.
During the Great Depression of the thirties, Higbees went Bankrupt but under the guidance of their President, the company reorganized and continued to grow.
1 992 saw the demise of Higbees as in that year, the company was sold to
The picture is either a reproduction of or an original of an old 1803 magazine print. The original Higbees tag with the number is still prominent on the back.
