Product colors may vary slightly from what you're seeing on screen. I try to take natural light photos that I feel best represent the piece. Custom work will vary slightly from photos and piece to piece. Each one is still handmade with as much care and attention to detail as the original photo. There are many processing variables between raw clay to final firing that can effect this, but I try my best to minimize them.
-Treating Your Pots Nicely:
My work is handmade, not production dining ware. It will chip or break banging against each other in the sink/cupboard/dishwasher. Small nooks & crannies need to be cleaned by hand with a dish brush.
PLEASE use a coaster with cups if you have a very nice table (or your friend does). Earthenware cups can leave rings because they're naturally more porous, and even fully glazed/vitrified high fire clays can sweat in the proper conditions, just like store bought mugs or glassware. If you're worried about furniture damage or haven't used the cup before, please use protection : )
Most of my handmade pottery is not meant for stove top, or open flame, unless specifically noted as safe for that.
The oven is tricky business. You need to put your casserole/pie plate/serving dishes into the oven while it's cold, with its contents cold, to avoid thermal shock and cracking.
-A word about the microwave...
There are many schools of thought on microwaving handmade pottery.
My philosophy is as follows:
Yes, microwaves cause wear on pots over time. They don't heat evenly, so it causes stress on the pots. That being said, functional pottery is meant to be functional, not last forever. Most of us use the microwave. I have many pieces from 10+ years ago that have been microwaved at least weekly, if not daily...and there have been very few causalities.
Non functional work should not be microwaved...
