Mary Jane Eckert’s sampler was originally stitched in 1827, most likely somewhere on the east coast. It has delightful birds, dogs and flowers. What appears to be her brick home is overshadowed by a huge pot of flowers and a gigantic bird. An unusually placed alphabet is stitched vertically and backwards on the left and top. The large alphabet was done with Algerian Eyelet stitches. When complete it will fit a 10 x 14 inch frame nicely. DMC Floss is used on 14 count linen.
