The Partisan Hospital Franja, monument of humanity and solidarity, was hit and almost completely destroyed by the flooding in 2007. All the trees were damaged. The beech, in which the history of this gorge is written, is one among very few that survived this natural disaster. Unfortunately its root system was damaged and started to decay. The tree was removed due to public safety reasons in 2014. I designed an unique product from its wood, as a memory and reminder of war times in which this clandestine hospital was operating.
Unique pen is made by genuine Franja wood, wood with history - every pen is handcrafted. Multi-colored patterns are made by wood fungi. Case is designed symbolically - string presents seams of wounded. At the opening of the case arise three holes that present scars - indelible history.
I bought the pen as a gift for my father. The craftsmanship speaks for itself! It is very well made, the wood grain is gorgeous and it is comfortable to hold! My dad’s going to love it!
Thank you Simon for answering all my questions and shipping it out so quickly!
