This is a pack of 10 felting needles, your choice of one size only or a mix of two of each size (5 sizes).
Felting Needle Sizes Available:
36T (triangle blade)
38T (triangle blade)
38S (star blade)
40T (triangle blade)
40 Spiral (spiral or twisted blade)
There are many different felting needles available, and I stock the most useful types of needles you may require for needle felting. They are very high quality needles, made in Germany and range from the large needles used to quickly felt down the wad of wool at the beginning of the process, to very fine needles used towards the completion of the work when you are adding the final details.
The triangle shaped blades are represented by the letter T, and the star shapes by the letter S.
They are color coded for easy identification; the top of the handle is painted with enamel paint. I find this makes an enormous difference when reaching for each size needle, you can see at a glance which one to pick up. The packaging your needles come in has a color-code sticker to help you identify the needles quickly.
36T - RED
A coarse needle for felting down a large mass of wool quickly. Excellent for the beginning of each piece.
38T - PURPLE
A middle sized needle, good to change down to after using #36.
38S - GREEN
An excellent fine, star shaped needle, with barbs clustered closer to the tip.
For fine finishing detail and for working with merino. I use this needle a lot for flat felting.
40T - YELLOW
A good general purpose fine needle, for finishing detail and general shaping. The barbs are spaced evenly up the blade.
40 Spiral (twisted) - PINK
These needles have a spiral twist in the needle, with barbs on each edge. This allows the needle to both felt and twist the fibres as you poke with it, making the felting process so much faster. It will felt both at the surface and underneath the surface. You can work fine detail with these needles, and they leave a much smaller hole, allowing you to achieve a very smooth surface.
These needles are packed in hollow plastic boards for safety and protection, making them very safe to post. Photo number 3 is an example of the packaging.
