An unusual and exotic handmade ceramic vintage fruit from Guatemala. The fruit is known as mamey, painted bright reddish brown with a dark pit and a loop for hanging. Perfect as a pendant or to enhance a beautiful gift wrapped package or even as part of a colorful kitchen garland.
It has a metal loop and is a medium to large size measuring over 1 1/2" including it's stem. I do have other fruit in small and large sizes that appears in the basket in the photo above and in the last picture. If you would like to purchase more than one at a discounted price please contact me to make the adjustments. This same fruit is available in a larger size.
Wikipedias definition : "Pouteria sapota, mamey sapote, is a species of tree native to Cuba, Central America, naturally ranging from southern Mexico to southern Costa Rica. Today, the tree is cultivated not only in Mexico, but also in Central America, the Caribbean, and South Florida for its fruit, which is commonly eaten in many Latin American countries, especially (Cuba). The Latin American people who consume the most mamey in the USA are Cuban Americans, making it into milkshakes and ice cream among other things. It has different names depending on the country: mamey (Cuba), zapote colorado (Costa Rica), níspero and zapote rojo (South America), among others."
♥ your miniature mamey will arrive in a nicely wrapped box.
