* Although there are 4 sets available, the list price is for 1 set. If the quantity above falls below 4, this indicates that 1 or more sets sold. Exquisite, antique, Neo-Classical, interior door locksets made during the early 1900's. Each set consists of 2 iron knobs, 2 stamped iron escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with 1 key, 1 steel strike plate for the jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews.
Originally, all parts were brass plated, however, some of the brass wore off of over the years leaving the parts with a nice, distressed finish. Please note that the amount of plating varies from part to part. (See group photos for a visual).
The knobs and escutcheons have a wonderful, Neo-Classical style design. The knobs and plates feature a beautiful floral motif.
The set was salvaged from the Midwest. At the point of salvage, some parts were painted, and all were dirty and unevenly tarnished (see last photo). Since then, we've removed the paint, and cleaned and polished each part to the best of our ability. We were careful while cleaning to preserve as much of the plating as possible.
The hardware is in good condition. All parts show signs of some light scratches and are free of breaks, cracks, chips, or heavy scratches. We opened, inspected, and sprayed WD-40 on the parts inside of each lock to function more smoothly. We also made a key to operate each lock and we could make more for $6/key--email us after the auction if you are interested.
