Learn how to spread butterfly and moth specimens all by yourself! Each kit contains a specimen and everything you need to spread it at home. This makes an amazing gift for people of all ages!
All specimens are sourced from a butterfly farm where the butterflies live for their entire lifespan and are allowed to reproduce and pollinate plants before they die of natural causes, when they are then collected and packaged for entomology enthusiasts alike.
Each kit includes the following: -One naturally deceased butterfly specimen of your choice -Illustrated instructions on how to prepare and preserve the specimen, plus aftercare -Ideas for adding the specimen to a shadow box (shadow box not included) -A spreading board -A set of black entomology pins -A set of thick stock strips for securing the wings -A cardboard box for storage -A coupon code for purchasing more specimens
Butterfly specimens to choose from (pictured):
-White w/ stripes, 65 mm wide (Neographium agesilaus autosilaus) -Purple & Yellow, 50 mm wide (Marpesia corinna) -Orange, 50 mm wide (Appias nero) -Blue, 50 mm wide (Asterope optima philotima)
If you just can't decide, extra butterfly specimens can be added for $8 each. Use the "request custom order" button if you want more than one and we'll build a kit with multiple specimens just for you!
This listing is for ONE lepidoptera (butterfly and moth) spreading kit. You WILL NOT receive the exact items pictured. Butterflies may vary slightly in shape/color/pattern because nature likes to create individuals. Parts of the kits may vary slightly in size because I cut the boards by hand and assemble everything myself. Stock photos of specimens are provided courtesy of my specimen supplier.
United States shipping only due to high exportation costs of entomological specimens. Sorry, international folks! All items ship the next business day.
Giving this as a gift? Let me know in the notes at check-out!
