Unusual selection of translucent sea shells from Henley Beach, South Australia. Beautiful pearl finish with shades of apricot, ivory, lemon and peach. Ten shells with sizes from 2.5 inches in diameter to 1.25 inches.
The shells are similar to potato chips in size, shape, weight and thinness. As shown in photo 3, the shells are so thin blue sky is visible through them.
I have used them to highlight frames and mirrors and to make shell flowers. Despite the delicate appearance, I drilled holes for the flower petals and they did not split or crack.
Collecting sea shells along the beaches of South Australia was my favorite thing to do during the twenty years that I lived there.
Now that I have returned home to the US, I am opening my "ozseaglass" Etsy shop to share the gorgeous shells and sea glass found on Australian beaches.
Another favorite activity was exploring car boot (trunk) sales held on cricket playing fields on weekends. The boot sales were also called Trash and Treasure and of course, I always found treasure in vintage items and collectibles.
