Item details

This pattern shows you how to knit a basket in three different sizes with thick wool cord you make yourself. Once you know how to make the cord (a simple crocheted chain which is then felted in the washing machine), you can use it for all kinds of projects.

The pattern comes as a PDF file, which should become available to download as soon as your payment clears.

This is not the actual knit basket! If you are interested in purchasing a finished knit basket, please contact me for a custom order.

Difficulty: Easy. The pattern uses a basic garter stitch. And because the rope is so thick, you only need a few stitches per row!

Cost: For the largest size basket you will need 12 skeins of wool, which are around $5-$7 each. For the medium size you will need 8 skeins and for the small, only 4. The size 35 knitting needles can be purchased at craft stores for around $10. You will also need a size N/9 mm crochet hook, a delicates bag and a washing machine.

Of course you can always use the pattern as a starting point and substitute your own materials.
