This bib-front dress shirt was fashionable for men in the 1870s and is still elegant today. Make it as an ideal companion with a vest for a steampunk outfit or cosplay. It can also be a woman's oversized tunic or nightshirt. The pattern uses the longer length but you may shorten it as needed.
Shirting weight fabrics work great. These include lightweight broadcloth, gingham, muslin, or a light cotton flannel. Four to five buttons are needed.
The pattern has cutting lines for five sizes as outline on the back of the pattern (shown above) which encompasses Misses sizes 6 to 22 and Men's sizes 32 to 46. There are finishing instructions along with a brief history of this style of shirt. After it's cosmopolitan debut, like many styles, farmers and tradesmen started adopting this urban shirt. It's popularity spread across America.
Folkwear has been around for a long time and still is. This pattern is new, not used or vintage. Ursula's Alcove is a licensed dealer.
