Reversible pocket spinning surface for supported spinning in Queensland Walnut and Dymondwood
This item is in stock. Your item is similar to the one in the pictures shown here. The grain of this wood is very consistent and these items all look near identical to the one shown. Note that if purchased with other items there will be a large saving on postage.
This delightful support bowl for supported spindling is made from a block of Queensland Walnut (the darker northern species) from Australia. The bowl is sealed and then polished to a smooth surface with friction polish then hard Carnauba wax, to give a superb durable finish.
The contrasting Dymondwood end grain insert in the centre is for extra hardness, smoothness and best spin, as well as decorative effect. The centres have a dimple to help keep the spindle in position as it is flicked, and the two sides of the surface have different profiles. One is more funnel shaped with a parabolic curve that will hold your spindle securely, and the reverse is shallower to allow use with different whorl shapes and tilt angles.
This support bowl is suitable for use with metal tipped spindles. The shallower face will accommodate ball bearing and rounded glass tips by other makers as well as my short tip Dervish styles, and the deeper well suits my Pu Yok, all my standard tibetan range and current Dervish and Dyavol styles.
It is about 55 mm in diameter and is ideal for travel use or at home.

Cancellations - please consider carefully when you order as I do not accept cancellation requests unless there are exceptional circumstances. An order cancellation involves quite a bit of time as the original order has to be removed from our database, after being entered and customer records created, refunds arranged and we have to correspond with Etsy about it. The goods involved are also then unavailable to buyers, for up to a week after we send a cancellation request to Etsy. In the event that we agree to a cancellation, we may then then make a cancellation charge of $10 US or 10% of the order value whichever is greater to cover our losses in administration time. In law in most countries a paid order is a contract between both parties, Etsy.com policy is that cancellations are at the sole discretion of the supplier.
I will replace goods at my cost (or refund item costs) that are found to be faulty in manufacture for up to six months from sale. Faulty items must normally be returned to me. Damage caused by inappropiate use or fair wear and tear is not covered by my warranty. The buyer is responsible for the cost of returning items to me, replacements will be shipped free of charge.
I can quote to repair items that have been damaged by the owner or accidentally. Please contact me for details.
Currently I am unable to take custom orders, sorry. You can ask for a copy of items that were previously sold by me on Etsy and sometimes (not always) I will be able to make the items and sell them as reserved items on Etsy. This business is based at Crystal Waters Ecovillage in Queensland Australia. I am unable to take personal callers at my premises or home. You can also find my products by a quick Google search for the Spindleshop.
