A set of two vintage hotel matchbook covers circa the 1950s. . .
Hotel Chesterfield, NY was a midtown Hotel, operational between the years 1920 and 1960. The match book advertises "Rooms with Bath $2.50 and up." The Hotel had 600 rooms and was located at West 49th St. just off Broadway. It has an interesting history of some notable crimes committed in the Hotel. The Pickwick Arms Hotel of Greenwich, Ct opened in 1920, and had a reputation for hosting nuptials, including those of several famous celebrities! It was sadly, to most local residents, demolished in 1972.
A rare set of east coast memorabilia that would make great material for framing, or to be given as gifts. These matchbook covers could also be the perfect bits of ephemera to use in a collaged piece of artwork. They could also make interesting bookmarks. . .
