Petunia Skunk by Mary Jardin Wimberley
With this pattern, you will create Petunia Skunk who is a 7 ½” tall whimsical yet realistic soft sculpture mohair skunk! I studied baby skunks thoroughly and fell in love with their sweet faces and eventually came up with this easy to follow pattern.
Each of my patterns offers different and in this case new techniques. This one features hand made claws and a sculpted nose both of which are optional. I also include other options like creating an embroidered nose, adding whiskers and creating eye whites behind the eyes. To make things easy, the ears are machine sewn into the head and dots for eye placement are provided for you.
There are 2 pages of pattern pieces in this 9 page pattern which are clearly marked with seam letters for easy match up, dots for cotter pin or bolt insertion, openings for turning, seam allowance, nap arrows, notches for eye placement and more. The pattern is easy to resize because I include the stitch line and disc outlines so as you shrink or enlarge the pattern you can still see where to stitch and what size discs to use.
5 pages of illustrated directions will show you how to create leather eyelids, how to needle sculpt the face, how to insert eyes without damaging the head back and more. A list of materials needed is provided as well as a collection of Skunk photos for your reference.
PLEASE CONVO ME FOR HELP AS YOU CONSTRUCT YOUR SKUNK! I WILL REPLAY RIGHT AWAY.
This original 8 page pattern for 7 1/2” Petunia Skunk is designed to fit horizontally on 8.5” x 11” paper. Once printed, pages can be folded in half to fit into a zip lock bag for storage.
Donna Somers Mettling, the new owner of Edinburgh is now creating kits for my patterns so if you are interested, email her: Donna [!at] edinburghimports.com. You may know her from her long time fur supply company, Mohair Maniac where she specializes in knowing her customer’s needs and going that extra mile in customer service. I have personally experienced this and hope you will give her a try and experience it yourself!
By purchasing this pattern you agree to not sell or share this pattern. You may sell a skunk made from this pattern or a revised version as long as you mention it was made by Mary Wimberley of Mary’s Secret Garden. I have put many years of experience and many hours into the pattern so giving me credit helps me enormously. In fact share on Facebook if you if you feel so moved. ☺
Enjoy! Thanks so much for your support! Friend me as Mary Jardin Wimberley in Delaware on Facebook to follow my progress on the next pattern. Let me know if there are other animal patterns you would be interested in purchasing. You can go to my website: www.marywimberley.com to look at my photo gallery and see what other animals I have made. Enjoy and please feel free to write with questions while you are constructing. So much love and good luck!
