Instructions for crocheting this urn shaped basket, inspired by rainbows and mandalas. 5 pages with photos. The unusual shape and unique combinations of colors and stitches in this basket creates endless interest. I wanted to create a basket that utilizes stitches of different heights, shapes and colors for pattern effect, much the way a mandala does, but in a three dimensional shape rather than a flat piece. What resulted was this petite basket. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did.
The pattern calls for 7 colors of Red Heart Super Saver Yarn.
Skill Level: This pattern utilizes many different stitches. It is probably a good pattern for an advanced beginner who has some familiarity with how to combine different stitches, work in the round, and is ready for a challenge. For the most part, the stitches are simply combinations of basic stitches – SS, SC, HDC, DC. Concentration and counting stitches is the most important ingredient for success with this type of crochet.
The finished size is about 6” across at the widest part and about 5” high.
Note - this is a pattern, not a finished product. I currently offer the basket pictured for sale in another listing in my Etsy Shop, but it is one of a kind. If you are looking for a finished product, check out my other listings.
