Doronicum pardalianches 'Great Leopard's Bane'

[Ex. Co. Durham]

Asteraceae: an upright downy rhizomatous perennial to 70cm. found on roadsides verges and in woodland rides. The flowers are 3-5cm across, comprising of orange-yellow disc florets and bright yellow ray florets, blooming from May-June. The leaves are heart shaped. Naturalised, being first recorded in the wild in 1633 from Northumberland. Now local across the whole country. Native to most of Europe.

USES:

The root has cardiotonic and nervine properties. It is a useful in the treatment of melancholia, nervous depression and scorpion bites.

GROWING INFORMATION:

Surface sow in a greenhouse from April to June and make sure the compost does not dry out. A diurnal temperature difference is beneficial to germination. The seed usually germinates in 10 - 20 days at 20°c. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and grow them on in the greenhouse for their first winter. Plant them out into their permanent positions in late spring or early summer. Thrives in sun or semi-shade in ordinary garden soil, preferring a moist soil. It will require some protection from the strong sun in summer. Succeeds in the shade of trees. Plants spread freely at the roots.

HARVESTED: 2017

THE BORING STUFF:

Due to customs issues I do not ship to Brazil!

SHIPPING TO AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND ARE AT YOUR OWN RISK, I AM STOPPING THE REFUNDING OF LOST ITEMS TO THESE COUNTRIES!!!

We offer many seeds which are easy, and sprout quickly and evenly. But with some you must be prepared to experiment, be patient, and use your initiative and intuition. Remember that with some rare species, you are venturing into unknown territory. Most corporate seed companies will not carry difficult seeds, only selling, easy, mass-produced varieties. We like to offer a more challenging alternative.

I DON’T INCLUDE GROWING INFORMATION WITH EVERY ORDER, BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE A HARD COPY JUST LET ME KNOW AND I WILL PRINT YOU ONE OFF.

IF YOU FAIL TO GERMINATE YOUR SEEDS PLEASE DON’T LEAVE BAD FEEDBACK, SEEDS ARE ALWAYS FRESH AND TESTED FOR VIABILITY BEFORE LISTING, SO I KNOW THAT THEY DO GERMINATE, IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS PLEASE JUST ASK!!!

ORDERS MAY BE DELAYED TWO OR THREE DAYS DUE TO WORK COMMITMENTS, SO PLEASE BE PATIENT!

I POST TWICE WEEKLY MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FOR SEEDS THAT HAVE BEEN LOST IN THE POST, THIS IS NOT MY FAULT AND COMPLETELY OUT OF MY CONTROL, SIMPLY LET ME KNOW AND I WILL HAPPILY RECTIFY THE PROBLEM!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
