This is a cross stitch pattern for an iconic Maori Koru or Kowhaiwhai design. The koru (Māori for "loop") is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace.
The finished design measures 16cm 16xcm, when stitched on black 14ct Aida. This design uses only white cotton floss, but you may wish to use your own colour of choice. Only full cross stitches are required for this pattern.
You will need approximately 1 skein of white cotton floss and black 14ct Aida.
Your Koru 1 pattern will be available for download as a 2 page PDF.
This is a PDF Cross Stitch Pattern, not a finished product. No materials, such as fabric or floss are included in this listing. The above images are for reference only.
