I designed The Ollie Pants for my 18 month old son to wear to an outside Autumn wedding. I wanted a light and cool outfit with a vintage feel, and combined it with a linen shirt and a double-breasted vest (patterns for these sold separately). They were comfortable and quick to make so I made plenty more in different styles!
This is another opportunity to upcycle second-hand clothing into beautiful children’s garments. I turned a second-hand women's linen suit (purchased for a dollar) into the trousers for the wedding outfit, for a fraction of the price of buying linen fabric.
If you want to make the trousers the feature of an outfit, use a bright African wax print or a solid primary colour. Or recycle a pair of jeans, even keeping the back pockets in place.
Advanced beginner. Sewing buttonholes is the most complex sewing technique for this design.
