This is a gorgeous hand pieced patchwork quilt top made in the 1940's or so. It is an interesting pattern that looks to me like it should be called "windmill", just guessing. The 100% cotton fabrics are a mix of solids and flour sack and dress prints. The quilt top measures approx. 72 x 88". The stitching was done carefully with good precision. I just love the color combination on this beautiful quilt top, bright red, bright yellow and a bright blue. The blue edge you see in photo #3 and #5 is only on one edge of the quilt. The opposite edge is finished as you see in photo #4. There is another issue worth mentioning, I photographed the right end of the "top" side, see photo #5. It was cut off at an odd angle and I have no idea why, the fabric appears to be extra, it makes me wonder if the quilt top was originally designed to be larger and perhaps the maker ran out of fabric. One never knows with vintage quilt tops. I did not launder this and I am sure it has not been laundered. It smells clean. My home is non smoking.
