SALE Hand Made Sterling Silver Pendant Of Natural Blue Turquoise With Black Matrix And A Brown, Black, Pink And Beige Ammonite Fossil Slice Was $169.00 Now $149.00

72mm (2.83") long including the bale by 41mm (1.61") at the widest and 8mm(.31") at the thickest point. The 3mm, half round, wire bale has an opening of approximately 14mm (.55") long by 10mm (.39") at the widest and is stamped 925 NM. The stamping indicates sterling silver quality and the NM is for where it was made, New Mexico. The total weight is 26 grams.
The silver is heavy, making this a sturdy piece. The design is simple. Plain bezels securely holding the stones in place with an outer ridge at the base and an open back which allows maximum visibility of both front and back of the stones. The turquoise is a nicely polished blue with fine black matrix. Between the two set stones is a round silver bead one on left and right. This is the only decoration. The silver is somewhat tarnished and is otherwise in excellent condition.
The front of the ammonite fossil is flat and has been polished. The darkest areas are somewhat metallic with a combination of brown, black, pink and beige mottling. The spiral of the shell is quite visible and defined with dark lines.
The back of the fossil is smooth and matte in shades of light to dark brown. The back of the turquoise is softly polished with more of the same fine black matrix visible.
This is easily a "stand alone" piece and would be equally appropriate suspended on strands of beads. A boho, tribal, beach, gypsy, beautiful pendant perfect for layering! I have more info about ammonites at the bottom of this listing.

Thank you for visiting my shop. I continue to list more from my gallery of over 20 years ( Here is a shortcut back to my Etsy shop if you would like to see more of my collection.

PS. If you need a gauge to measure items. I sell them. Here is the link below.

Ammonites were predatory, squid like creatures that lived inside coil-shaped shells. Like other cephalopods, ammonites had sharp, beaklike jaws inside a ring of tentacles that extended from their shells to snare prey such as small fish and crustaceans. Some ammonites grew more than three feet (one meter) across. Ammonites first appeared about 240 million years ago, though they descended from straight-shelled cephalopods called bacrites that date back to the Devonian, about 415 million years ago.
