I hand-painted this wooden yarn holder in Russian Zhostovo style. All of my products are unique. I never paint two the same.
The delicate floral designs of the Zhostovo style stemmed from the countryside of nineteenth century Russia. Farmers and villagers of the Zhostovo region, outside of Moscow, began this unique form of decorative painting by painting beautiful flowers on everyday items.
This yarn holder spins smoothly and quietly, and works on any flat surface.
The wood is spruce and beech.
I used special folk art acrylic paint, and lots of layers of extra strength gloss varnish for shine and durability.
Height: approx. 20 cm
