About the Shuttle: Great for inkle weaving, tablet weaving/card weaving, back strap weaving and other small detail work. The long side has a beveled knife edge for packing the weft threads in nice and tight.
These shuttles are handmade by me. Each one is hand sanded and sealed with a hand rubbed, close to the grain, urethane finish. I hand polish them for a silky feel when using. Keeping the finish close to the grain helps to deter chipping of the finish and also provides a better feel to the wood.
The photos for this listing are for illustrative purposes only. Each shuttle is one of a kind due to natural variances of the the wood grain and texture. I assure you that I always select the finest woods available so that each is a work of art like no other. I have been crafting fiber working tools for local weavers and friends for over 15 years. Their feedback to me has been that they love how well these work and feel because I put a lot of effort in making sure they are the finest quality shuttles available.
About Cherry: Heartwood is a light pinkish brown when freshly cut, darkening to a medium reddish brown with time and upon exposure to light. Sapwood is a pale yellowish color.
I love this shuttle! It's beautiful and a joy to work with. It feels just right in my hands, and the bevel is perfect for fine work like tablet weaving. It arrived very quickly as well.

You can tell when you pick up this Cherry Knife Edge Weaving Shuttle, that it is definitely of superior craftsmanship. It is lovely wood, a very beautiful design and a useful weaving tool. It will make weaving more of a pleasure than it is already! I am fortunate to own a weaving tool created by Looms by Garren. It was carefully packed and sent really fast. Thanks!
