This tough easy to grow hardy perennial will attract many different types of bumble bee with its bright blue flowers that appear from April onward.
The 20x bare roots will be wrapped individually in brown paper and packaged in a PB5 padded bag with shredded brown paper void fill. This is all 100% compostable and contains no plastic.
This plant can also be used as a natural dye.
Choose your planting site carefully as this plant can be invasive. A "wild corner" or little used space at the back of the garden is ideal, (perhaps near a bee hive, if you keep bees). If it's still frosty plant your roots in large pots/buckets of garden soil/compost (Alkanet prefers an alkaline soil), and place in a cold frame or other frost free place ,until the last frosts and the ground has warmed, ready for planting out.
The bare roots are packed minus their leaves as they don't travel well. The leaves with their distinctive raised white dots, will appear 3-4wks after planting out. The plant should flower the same year of planting.
