This pattern was published in a Patons knitting book in Australia, No. R 212, I believe in the early 1950's, however there is no date on the pattern book. and it may well have been earlier than this.
The size given in the pattern for the finished blanket is 29 inches by 38 inches.
Knitted in a 4 ply wool using No. 10 knitting needles.
You will also need a medium sized crochet hook for the finished edge.
Knit and purl, some slipped stitches, basic crochet stitches - treble and double crochet

This file is in a PDF format with the original pattern pages in one PDF document.
Please let me know if you have any problems downloading or reading the pattern.
If you would like your blanket to be the same size as the original I strongly suggest that you check your tension as this is an old pattern and today's wool will knit up differently.
Tension given is measured over plain smooth fabric and is 7and a half stitches to 1 inch over width using No. 10 needles.
Needles required are 1 pair of size 10
My research has found that the current needle sizes are:
Size 10- ( AUS mm), ( UK 10), (USA )

My most frequently asked question relates to 'scratchy' wool.
I use high quality wool. This is usually Shepherd merino baby wool. Definitely not a 'scratchy' wool.
