Create a fast and fun cuff bracelet using size 8/0 seed beads using either peyote or brick stitch. This works up quickly (and the beads are easy to see!) so it can be worn the same day or makes a great last minute gift.
The inspiration for this pattern is my love of picking wild Maine blueberries. I’ve added some additional beaded embellishment on the blueberries to mimic their peeking out through the leaves. Several pictures of the finished bracelet are shown below.
Using Size 8 Miyuki rocailles, the cuff size is 6.1 inches long by 0.95 inches wide without embellishment or clasp.
Included in this 7-page PDF is a realistic pattern picture, a list of the beads used and how many of each are needed, a bead graph, and written row-by-row instructions for peyote. On the last 2 pages is a larger copy of the pattern picture; one with and one without the bead legend that you can print and use as your go-by if, like me, you hate following written instructions. Please note that this is NOT a tutorial and assumes basic knowledge of peyote/brick stitch. There are many sites on the internet you can check for a refresher if needed (check your favorite bead supply store website). The attached picture of a finished piece demonstrates one way you can attach a clasp and embellish the edges. For this cuff I’ve used a simple picot edging of 3 11/0 beads.
I’ve included the number/name of the beads used when designing the piece (8/0 Miyuki Round Rocailles), but use whatever colors and make of beads you would like. The only caveat is that different manufacturers of beads produce slightly different sizes (within each size category) so the finished piece may be larger/smaller than the measurements given, requiring a little adaptation. Also, some manufacturers produce beads with varying sizes/quality requiring significant initial culling. Just use beads that are approximately the same size when making these cuffs.
Feel free to sell what you create from my patterns but please do not sell the pattern or make copies for others. If you sell the pieces, I would appreciate if you would note the design source with a link. I’d also love to see a picture of your finished piece!
If you have any questions or concerns about this pattern, please convo me on my Etsy site: www.Etsy.com/store/ShoshinArts. I will be happy to help you lengthen it.
