KNITTING PATTERN* for this adorable HugKnits© Doggie blankie. A perfect gift for baby showers and new babies. Mommies will love it because it offers all the softness and comfort of a favorite blanket but small enough to be carried about.
In addition to a comforting familiar friend, HugKnits Doggie can double as a puppet–the head is hollow–a great distraction tool for a fussy or bored baby.
These directions are for the HugKnit Doggie + a bonus tutorial for picking up the stitches for the head. The 16" blanket portion is knit flat in garter stitch for great tactile stimulation, head is knit in the round. Uses worsted weight yarn (make sure its washable); brown -250 yds, white -50 yds, black -20 yds, contrasting waste yarn -2 yds. Also uses Kitchener Stitch and Duplicate Stitch. Easy peasie stuff for intermediate knitter. If you run into trouble, pattern support is always just an email away.
