This pattern includes everything you need to know about how to make a great windsock. This is a project that you must love and want to do because it is difficult working with flag nylon.
I've written about a technique to make windsocks fray-free and as beautiful on the inside as the outside. (in one of the pictures I show how the back side looks) Mardi Gras windsock contains a very fun, basic pattern that can be done in a multitude of colors. Whatever colors you find available, this will work with three colors, or four or five, but it is very nice in red white blue, or black-orange-white, or black-red-yellow-orange.
Supply List: Nylon Flag Fabric in three colors, 1/3 yard each. Other supplies include 1/3 yard non-woven interfacing, 1-1/3 yard of 1/2 inch dressmaker boning, heavy thread and an upholstery needle, two flat 1/2" buttons, polyester thread, new Microtex needle, 1-1/2 yards strong but thin cording or braided fishing line to hang the sock, and a swivel for the top.
