To ensure a good fit and test the suitability of your hand woven fabric for a particular garment I suggest making a “mock up” (sometimes called muslin, toile or pre-test) first from an inexpensive piece of purchased fabric of a similar thickness and drape. By doing this first you’ll know that your hand weaving won’t be wasted and you’ll have something that fits and you will love to wear. This may seem like a bit of a waste of time when you want to get on with the real thing but it can save a lot of hard work with alterations later on.
