This is a cross stitch pattern of an iconic native New Zealand bird, the Pukeko or Swamphen. The Pukeko is a large bird found throughout New Zealand. The head, breast and throat of the Pukeko are deep blue/violet, the back and wings are black, with brilliant red beak and legs.

The finished design of this pattern measures 8.5cm x 13.5cm, when stitched on 14ct Aida. This design uses four colours of floss.
