I dyed this roving using Jacquard's Acid Dyes. Don't worry, the acid is just the vinegar that I use to set the colors. I used Gold, Fuschia, and Purple. The last picture shows my Sunday afternoon adventure drying on my deck.
Because I'm going to purchase some FinnSheep, I wanted to experiment with how the breed will blend with my alpaca. I purchased some raw Finn fleece and had Zeilinger's mill in Frankenmuth, Michigan prepare this roving. I'm pleased! I'm am surprised that it feels a little "crispy". It is dyeing and spinning up very nice.
The white alpaca is from my sweet boy, Lux (Pollux).
I like to add a fine wool to my alpaca because it adds memory and bounce to spun yarn. Sometimes 100% alpaca yarn might stretch out when worn. Not always though. I've found that if the alpaca fleece has lots of crimp, it will retain it's shape (memory).
Most of my items are shipped in Biodegradable, Recycled, Poly Mailers so that I can ship First class. If the package is over 16 ounces, I will ship Priority. I ship within 48 hours. If you check my Reviews, you will see that I am quite speedy.
Most buyers purchase from my shop using PayPal or Etsy's Direct Check. These are easiest for me. But if you rather send a check or money order, that's fine too. Fiber folks must be conscientious and dependable because I have never had a bad transaction. If you need time to pay or have to cancel a purchase, just let me know. Returns & exchanges
If you aren't happy, let me know. I will do an exchange or give your money back, or whatever it takes to have a happy customer. Buying fiber is hard from a picture. Ideally, you need to feel, caress, and, yes, even smell it.
Please let me know if you have allergies to fragrances because I store my fiber with lavender sachets. I can rewash the yarn before I send it out.
