Bases are finished with polyurethane or lacquer finishes are used as a protective coating. These finishing materials are the type used in the furniture or craft industries and I rely on their guarantees for the safeness of their products. I try to use good judgement in selecting the materials and finishes I use in building my handcrafted items or products. Sheets of engraving plastic come finished so all I do to make it safe is smooth the edges and round the corners so the handler of the material isn’t cut by the plastic. I base my decisions on whether to use a material or not, on if it is safe and environmentally friendly. After reading the labels and literature available, if I feel that a material or design is unsafe I won’t use it or I will come up with a safe material or design. I am always looking to build a safer as well as a better quality product for you, your loved ones and friends! But due to the nature of the craft materials small size etc. there are risks involved with these items and care should be taken in storing and handling so as to avoid cuts and choking dangers.
