Looking for a doll swimsuit for 18" dolls that's super quick and SEW ezy? The Sprinkler Season is perfect for you! Great for those intimidated by swim fabrics, as well as those with more sewing experience.
The suit is a halter style with a round neckline and a scoop back. Jazz it up with optional 'tushie' ruffles in a matching or contrasting color.
You'll need just 1/3 yard of swim fabric and ONE main pattern piece. No serger is required, you'll stitch with a basic zigzag. With no fussy elastic to add, construction is a snap!
A photo gallery and 3 bonus worksheets will get your designer instincts out of the shallow end of the pool. You'll get tips on machine embroidery plus instructions for adding a neckline flounce or a 'butterfly' back bow. (Bonus worksheets for this size range and the slender doll size are identical)
This pattern assumes basic sewing skills but you'll receive detailed instructions with photos. My patterns are written in an easy, conversational style. Imagine I'm right there with you at the machine!
You'll also get my 10 page 'Sew 'n Swim Info Guide'. All the information you need for swimwear sewing. Selecting fabrics and needles, avoiding throat-plate fabric-munching, perfecting your stitching and more.
For those with little sewing experience, the guide will have you stitching with confidence. Been sewing a long time? Use the guide as a handy reference for trouble shooting. You'll also love the links to fabric sources and helpful notions.
This listing is for a sewing pattern, NOT an actual garment. Photos shown are samples only, and may depict a few ideas that are not included in the pattern.
Test garments were designed to fit the current favorite American dolls, as well as most other similar 18" dolls. Fit tips are included for older Pleasant Company brand dolls, too!
Pattern is a PDF format with immediate download available after purchase. Remember to print with size set at 100%, 'actual size' and'no margins'. This insures that your pattern will print true to size.
This pattern is for your use only. It may not be published, sold or shared. You may sell items you make with the pattern; no mass production, please.
'Sprinkler Season' is an original design by Jane Wilkes of Janie Carroll Designs. A big thank you to my pattern testers Jaci, Julie, Debbie, Kel and Dana; as always you gals rock!
