Chic, classic, elegant, sexy beret, in Parisian style. Smart and warm for the winter season ahead. Quick to create and easy finishing. Any 12ply yarn adjusting needles if necessary to meet the tension. Use your stash yarns and create your own unique beret of many colours..
This beret is knitted in from the head band to the centre point using circular needles, changing to dpn's when required. You can finish it with an I-cord nub, or not as you wish.
The yarn I have used in my samples are various colours of Naturally Vero pure wool yarn from New Zealand. Vero is a soft, self-striping, heavy worsted weight 100% wool yarn. The needle sizes I used are 4.5mm & 5mm, which in US sizes are 7 & 8. Sadly the Vero yarn has been discontinued so any 12 ply or triple knit yarn will do as long as it knits to the tension.
from Wikipedia "The black beret was once considered the national cap of France in Anglo-Saxon countries and is part of the stereotypical image of the Onion Johnny. It is no longer as widely worn as it once was, but it remains a strong sign of local identity in the southwest of France. When French people want to picture themselves as "the typical average Frenchman" in France or in a foreign country, they often use this stereotype from Anglo-Saxon countries."
You can create your own charming beret in any colour or yarn.

You may create this beret for sale as long as I am acknowledged as the designer.
