vintage wood corbels victorian gingerbread wall mounted corner or shelf brackets
This is a pair of vintage wood brackets with a lovely three spindle design. These are also referred to as Victorian gingerbread corbels although the name can be deceiving as these and most others are not from the Victorian era, rather they are Victorian style architectural design used throughout time. This set in particular is from the 1960s or possibly 1970s.
The pair is in great condition with no damage or notable flaws. They are solid wood and come ready to use with built in wall mounts on one side. As with the majority of architectural salvage there were preexisting nails - one on each corbel. The nails have been bent over and could easily be removed if desired but it is not necessary as the portion with the nails is hidden from sight and will be flush against a shelf or corner when in use.
They would look great mounted under an existing shelf, fireplace mantle or even in the corners of a large door frame. There really are no limits to what can be done with these - especially since this pair has not been painted. You can use them as is for a natural wood look, add some stain or paint them any color. The opportunities are endless with the lovely pair!
