Item details

This is a digital download pattern so you can make your own pillow.

When I found out I was expecting twins I had so many questions and thoughts on how would I cope with two babies. I just couldn't work out how you fed them both at the same time. I started looking around and found breast feeding pillows, but not something I could use to bottle feed or that was suitable for them to just lie/sit in. So being a bit crafty I decided to make my own.

I can't really explain how useful this pillow has been, I just don't know how I would have coped without it. I have used this pillow every day since they were born. I can solo feed (and even express milk whilst feeding them), they lie in it, have done tummy time and I even go to baby classes with it. It's meant that I go out and not have to worry about how I would hold the two of them. Even at 8 months, when they were learning to sit up I used it as a support cushion for when they inevitably toppled over.

If you've decided that my twin pillow is for you, there are two options; a pattern so you can make your own (this option) or I can make a pillow for you (see my other listings).
This is a very straightforward pattern, 2 pieces of fabric (front and back) sewn together and stuffed, so if you have any sewing skill this won't be a problem.
However I do understand that having the time and energy to do anything other than looking after twins makes even the easiest sewing a bit of a hurdle, hence why there is the option of a ready made version.

Whichever you decide on, I wish you all the luck in the world for what will be the toughest, but most rewarding time of your life.

A proportion of the profit from this sale goes to Telford Twins and More Group, who have been a huge help to my husband and I. We are currently raising money to keep the group running in the future.

Is it really that easy to sew? I can only use one stitch on my sewing machine.
Yes, it is. There is one seam to sew, you then stuff the pillow and hand stitch the hole closed at the top.

Do I need a sewing machine?
Technically not, you can hand sew the seam, it would just take ages. So if you don't have a machine see if a friend has one you can borrow for 5 minutes (that's all it will take).

What do I get?
There are two files to download. One is the actual pattern, which needs to be printed onto A4 paper, cut out and taped together, the other is a set of instructions of how to make the pillow.

But I've got triplets...
I would love to make a triplet pillow pattern, but without having 3 at once I'm not sure how I would adapt it for the best. Please send me a message if you'd like one and we can work out the best design for how you're going to feed.

I really enjoyed this pattern! Cutting it out was a little time consuming (just getting the “angle” right on the pillow’s legs) and I was stuffing forever, but it still only took me around 30-45 minutes. I stitched on a ribbon hand piece, as suggested, and I also made a zipper-removable cover by adding about an inch all around. My friend (expecting twins) was seriously impressed! It took a little about 1 1/2 yards of fabric at 43 inches wide (I’m American) which would’ve been slightly helpful to know before hand. I’ll definitely make another if I have a reason to!
