Pattern directions include color pictures, very detailed knitting instructions and definitions of stitches used, and NO CHARTS. So this pattern is easily accomplished by an advanced beginner to intermediate knitter.

In the Rhône Valley of Southern France, a strong, cold northwesterly wind called the Mistral is common in winter and spring. It brings clear, dry air into the region making the agricultural conditions perfect for growing grapes used to make wine. The Southern Rhône area is home to many vineyards producing several varieties of wine. One of the most famous wines is Châteauneuf-du-pape, a lovely red blend.
This is the scarf or rectangular version of my Mistral Shawl pattern which you can find here:
https://www.etsystudio.com/listing/291535417/lace-knitting-pattern-pdf-mistral-shawl?ref=shop_home_active_12

The Mistral wind inspired both patterns with its flowing lines representing the winds that pass over the landscape. The scarf is knit lengthwise and consists of a simple repeating lace pattern along both ends that is easily memorized once you get going. The pattern is very simple with lovely results and is easy enough that you could even enjoy a glass of Châteauneuf-du-pape while you knit! The scarf is completely reversible, and looks perfect no matter how you wear it. It can easily be made longer or wider to wear as a shawl (as shown in the last two photos), and can be made in stripes or all one color. Cheers!

Materials needed to make the scarf:
For striped scarf shown:
Size US 5 (4mm) 29” or longer circular needles
Alpaca Cloud Fingering yarn by Knit Picks was used, one skein each in the following colors:

For solid color scarf/shawl shown:

Lace weight scarf: 23” wide (58.5cm) x 66” long (168cm)
